CHAR IS BACK!

CHAR is a legendary Santa Fe designer who for years held sway over a beautiful downtown shop - just across from La Fonda Hotel - where you could find her signature leather clothing and very Santa Fe peasant blouses. Her client list boasted the likes of - Waylon Jennings, Goldie Hawn, Barbara Streisand and Cher. After closing her downtown location, she  opened a charming boutique in the  White Studio - just behind the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. And it was with great sadness she closed  those doors last year. But she's back...designing a new and exciting collection showcased in a beautiful, just-opened, clothing/accessory shop  - KARINA ON CANYON.

 Although I've blogged CHAR several times on CHASING, I had never visited her TESUQUE STUDIO, so when she invited me to stop by, I did and found MAGIC

Tucked onto the grounds of the former Shidoni Foundry, this turquoise-trimmed, two-story cabin is beguiling. Char found it years ago and turned it into a working studio. When you step through the front door you are engulfed in  color, texture and a gentle activity of measuring, cutting, sewing and creating CHAR'S signature couture.

Gorgeous fabrics and ephemera everywhere... And Char's IDEA BOOKS filled with
page after page of fashions and detailing that have caught her eye...

Char's long-time assistant - Josefina - then helps turn her sketches , drawings and patterns into garments that are SO CHAR...
