ECO-PRINTS

Eco-printing is a technique where leaves, flowers and plants are placed on fabric or paper, bundled and steamed to release the natural dye inside the plant, creating a one-of-a-kind print/design. Sharon Sorken is a master of this technique and her silk scarves are exquisite. I watched and photographed her process and finished pieces. Quite fun...

Sharon uses an assortment of leaves that she has found yield the best colors and shapes..But there are always lovely surprised when she finds a new leaf or spray of leaves that work!
