IN MEMORY OF MARC NAVARRO, AN ELEGANT
COLLECTOR AND GALLERIST WHO HAD AN
EXQUISITE EYE AND A BEAUTIFUL SOUL.
I met Mark several years ago when I happened to wander into his beautiful gallery on Canyon Road. I was swept away by the magnificent collections of Mexican jewelry and silver and religious ephemera that filled this stunning space.
Over the years we became friends and I would run into him on weekends when I wandered the Flea Market at the Railyard where he had a booth. He was always impeccably dressed and I was always taking his photograph. He was most indulgent!
Mark passed away this past November but his talented son Jose will continue on with the Navarro legacy.

i am SO BLOODY DEVASTATED!
ReplyDeletei had no idea -- none. i could not have loved anyone the way i loved
marc. he was just the best of santa fe. what i will ALWAYS remember is
his love for his boy, his gorgeous mind-blowing home, and the fact that he
loved an old chanel handbag i had -- and i let him buy it right off my
shoulder. (i never told him that i had to rebuy it from a vintage chanel
store because i loved it too.) marc was sweetness and exquisiteness in one
man. and right now i am crushed. but it was my joy -- in a world that can
be truly UNjoyful -- to have known him.
