SENSE CLOTHING - CHASING THE CATALOG SHOOT

                                  Photos by C. Whitney-Ward

Santa Fe's SENSE Inc. launched its first collection of  soft and sensual active & pleasure clothing in 2005, and today these elegantly simple designs are  in over 200 stores throughout the United States.  And be warned, if you slip into  something  SENSE you'll be hooked.  According to founder & CEO  Robin Beachner,   the pieces  mix and match beautifully and can go  from pilates in the morning  to cocktails in the evening. And they pack like a dream.  "You can take six pieces of SENSE to China and be ready for just about anything," says Robin, who graciously allowed me to photograph while Peter Ogilvie was shooting their latest catalog.

SENSE has a  retail /warehouse space off of W. San Mateo.  The "front" room has display racks of yummy clothing  in gently-hued colors.

The "back" room is where the catalog shoot happened.

Everything was carefully choreographed &
the make-up artist did  her subtle magic.

The models took center stage and Peter started snapping away...
and so did I.

The SENSE crew coached from behind.

It's a wrap!

Thanks Kathy & Robin for letting me crash the shoot!

SLEEPING DOG TAVERN - FRIES TO DIE FOR

If you've ever eaten French fries infused with truffle oil, there's no turning back.
I had my first taste  in L.A. and they were memorable.  So you can imagine my delight when I stopped in at the Sleeping Dog Tavern and saw that
they not only had Truffled Fries  on their "Bites" menu, but they served them
 with crumbled bleu cheese.

Each fry glistened and exuded truffleness and I ate every last one. Don't want to
even contemplate the calorie count!

MOLECULE - SLEEK & SASSY

In the land of curvaceous adobe, a corrugated steel building soaring two stories is arresting. And, when you learn that this sleek contemporary space was constructed from eleven 40-ft containers that were craned in and assembled in only two days - the welding, electrical and interiors took a bit longer - well, the story gets intriguing.

"Molecule opened this past December," says Adriana Siso, the creative genius behind this soaring space that showcases brilliant, contemporary industrial design.

Trained in fine arts and faux painting, Adriana - a twenty-two year resident of Santa Fe -  has  a keen eye for sleek and sassy contemporary home and commercial furnishings. Her 4,200 sq. ft., light-filled showroom is studded with work from cutting-edge designers like: American designer, Norman Cherner; De La Espada, from Portugal; and the brilliant Dutch design firm Moooi. Here's a visual tour:

The wood frame of this luscious chair is actually burned, hence it's name - Smoke Chair,  designed by Moooi.

Individual recycled cardboard pieces, created by the very-green Philadelphia design firm Mio,  can be linked in interesting ways.

Absolutely wonderful baby/kiddies furniture and trappings.

Fab lighting.

Gorgeous art photography on the walls.

As well as nifty "stuff".

Brass knuckles anyone?
