GONE TOO SOON - ARTIST PRISCILLA HOBACK

ARTIST PRISCILLA  HOBACK

1939 - 2018

Priscilla Hoback was a native Santa Fean whose works in glazed clay reflect the richness of Northern New Mexico...Over the years, the deep blue sky, the crispness of mountain air, the muted tones of the desert scape, and above all, the omni-present culture of ancient Indians have made a profound impression on Hoback. This has been the inspiration for her production of cave murals, animal portraits  in fired clay reminiscent of the murals of Lascaux and Altamira."

A CHASING VISIT REMEMBERED...

Galisteo, New Mexico is just a short drive from Santa Fe and is home to an amazing community of artists and writers. I was  invited into the studio & gardens of the extraordinary clay Artist Priscilla Hoback.  It was a wonderful afternoon that I captured with my camera...

Priscilla Hoback and daughter Denise graciously welcomed us to Priscilla's gallery/ studio housed in the front rooms of a lovely adobe house filled with art and a delightful patio and garden out back.

Priscilla's glazed clay murals are handsome and this one shows her passion  for horses - she owns three beauties.

Her working studio is in the room adjacent to her gallery.

A charming patio and garden await out back.

And, lots of animals...
