Beth Henry is a collector and a photographer and the journey into her extraordinary world begins the moment you step though her front gate.
You enter a lush courtyard garden brimming with beautiful plantings and art, dominated by a large geometric mural sweeping along an adobe wall, a visual signpost of what awaits once you step into Beth's enchanting home.
Beth and husband "Wooly" moved to Santa Fe twenty-two years ago from the east coast. Their architect-designed house was full of sharp angles and large spaces and they set to work smoothing out those edges and creating a more intimate interior to house their vast and growing collection of art. Truly, I didn't know what to photograph first and how to stop. Here are a few visual snippets of the treasures that caught my eye.
This amazing floor "stain" pattern was created with magic markers.
The same artist did the courtyard mural
And then there's Beth's studio/gallery fillled with her sculpture - her first artistic love...
...and her photography which embodies a rich patina and alluring imagery.
She has a great photographic eye and instinct for composition that make her photographs wonderfully arresting.
